'TheBible4Life' project
The project has been designed around the much celebrated 400th year anniversary of the King James Bible. Back in 1611 the King of England authorised a number of scholars to make an official translation of the Bible into the English of the day. This was of course at the same time as Shakespeare was writing his plays, and accounts for the many "thee's" and "thou's" which was the normal way of speaking 400 years ago.
The first part of the Bible, known as “The Old Testament” was written mainly in Hebrew, and the second part, “The New Testament” was written in Greek. Around 400AD Jerome translated it all into Latin, which was the language of the church. In the middle ages men such as Wycliffe and Tyndale translated it into English, because Latin was no longer understood by the average person. Many lives were lost in this translation process, as the religious leaders did not want the common people to be
able to read the Bible for themselves. But King James 1 authorised a new translation, which has become known as “The Authorised Version” or “The King James Bible”.
Since 1611 many modern translations have been made, some better than others. But as 2011 is being recognized as the 400th anniversary of the Bible, which is still used widely today, the Christadelphians who sponsor the running of this website, have set up a project called “The Bible 4 Life”.

The purpose is not only to celebrate the Bible, but to try to help people to realise that this Bible really is the Word of God. The Bible is full of built-in proofs which openly invite us to check its accuracy.
If you are satisfied that it is reliable – you then need to take the next step and try to live by what it teaches. The Bible is not just a work of literature – it’s a book from God which tells us the way to live. If we all read just one chapter every day, then we are well on the way to keeping God's laws.
The Bible really is 4 life!
